Deeds not only reveal where a person lived, but may also include names and relationships of family members as well as information about the financial status of the landowner. Learn how to locate and understand land records and how to use them in your research.

Probate records are a valuable genealogy resource. Not only do they include wills, but also numerous other records related to probate including inventories, estate sales, and more. Other types of miscellaneous records can also be found in probate books including bonds, receipts, registration of free negroes, and others. Genealogy Club to meet October 17

The next Genealogy Club meeting will be on Monday, October 17, 2022 p.m. at the Montgomery Museum of Art and History.  Come to learn and enjoy the company of others who enjoy genealogy!

The museum is located at 4 E. Main Street, Christiansburg.  The building was originally a bank and is on the square next to the post office.  There is some parking in front of the building, and additional parking behind the building.  The parking behind the building can be accessed through an alley behind the museum off Main St. and through the bank drive-thru on Franklin St.
