About Me

“If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life”

My name is Rebecca Novy and I love genealogy!  I have been researching my own family’s genealogy for over 25 years and find it totally addictive.  The more I’ve learned, the more passionate I’ve become about doing genealogy research. Over the years I’ve branched out and have found I get just as excited helping others who are researching their families. Amazingly, each family I research comes to feel like my own family as well!

I enjoy digging deeply into genealogy and putting my experience and education to use helping people with their research.  I love figuring out how to break down those brick walls (or at least chip away at them) that have stumped you from going further in your quest to learn more about your ancestors.

I teach monthly genealogy classes at a local library, classes for the Virginia Tech Lifelong Learning Institute and speak at other organizations as requested.

I have earned two Professional Learning Certificates from the National Institute for Genealogical studies, one in American Records and another in Methodology.

I would love to help you pursue your goal of tracing your family roots!

“I have received your new research documents and remain fascinated.  My head is filled with imaginings of life in the distant past.  Thanks so much.  I feel I am of more substance than before with all this background.”
